How long does a box welded pond liner last?

Our liners carry a 25-year guarantee. Here's what that means in practice — and what determines how long a liner will perform.

The 25-year guarantee

Every box-welded liner we manufacture carries a 25-year guarantee against material failure and manufacturing defects. This is not a limited or conditional guarantee — it applies to the full liner, including the weld joints.

What affects lifespan?

Modern PVC and Rubber pond liner is highly durable. The factors that most commonly shorten liner life are:

  • UV exposure above the waterline — keep the liner edge covered with coping or pebbles
  • Sharp objects in the pond base — use an underlay under the liner
  • Chemical imbalance — maintain correct pH, especially in koi ponds
  • Physical abrasion — from pumps, filters or equipment sitting directly on the liner

In practice

Boxwelded pond liners that are correctly installed and looked after routinely last 30–40 years before showing signs of degradation. The 25-year guarantee reflects our minimum confidence in the material — not our expectation of its actual lifespan.

Frequently asked questions

Our box welded pond liners carry a 25-year guarantee. With proper installation and basic maintenance, they routinely outlast that by a significant margin.

Sharp objects in the pond base, exposure to UV light above the waterline, chemical imbalance in the water, and abrasion from heavy fish or equipment can all accelerate wear.

Our 25-year guarantee covers manufacturing defects and material failure under normal conditions. It does not cover physical damage caused by third parties or incorrect installation.
